The Marcinek’s Summer Family Session = The Good Morning Wall

My colleague and friend Chris Marcinek imagined the joy she would feel every morning as she walked down her stairs to see a portrait of her beautiful family saying “good morning!” to her. So we set out to capture the entire family dynamic, and created portraits of their love, friendship, and fun-loving spirit. All of this is celebrated with wall art throughout their home, from the mantle and the hallways, to the Good Morning Wall!

Chris is not only a talented fellow photographer, but also a cherished client, a trusted studio partner, and most of all, a dear friend. Her eye for beauty, her warmth, and her unwavering support have made her an invaluable presence both in front of and behind the camera.

I had the pleasure of being her photographer. During her session, I captured Chris with her family in a way that reflects their genuine connection and love. From laughter shared between poses to the quiet, heartfelt glances, each portrait tells the story of a family bound by warmth, joy, and enduring affection. These images now stand as timeless keepsakes, preserving the spirit of who they are together.

When we met at Chris' home to plan the session, we brainstormed wardrobe, areas of her beautiful yard for the session, and indoor locations for her family wall art. With thoughtful planning, our portraits were created with specific goals in mind and the excited anticipation began!

During the session, we found a wonderful variety of areas right within the Marcinek's yard, including ways of seeing that were new to them, such as looking up from the yard to the family assembled on the deck. With guided posing complimented by fun family dynamics, the session was memorable and fun.

The next step was the Reveal and Order appointment with Chris and Rich in their home. I shared an edited set of images to enjoy for selecting their wall art, and as it turns out, their portrait series was ideal for a cherished family album too!

When I visited Chris to install her family portrait Wall Art, it felt like the session had come full circle. Seeing the images, full of joy, love, and connection, find their place in her home was deeply meaningful. We chose the perfect spot for her Good Morning Portrait where natural light would gently embrace it and where it would greet her family every day.

Watching Chris' reaction as the piece was placed on the wall was a reminder of why we do what we do. These moments are not just photographs, they become part of the home, and a loving presence of the family.
